The Montreal Society of Implantology, in association with J. W. Goethe University, Oral Implantology Master Program, cordially invites you to its Second North American MOI Congress. This event-filled congress will be held in Montreal, Quebec on October 20 and 21, 2023. The MOI Team of educators and researchers in the field of dental implantology along with its outstanding administrative members have joined forces with North American & International MOI Alumni, guest speakers and Event sponsors to bring about this exciting two-day scientific event.
During the two days of the congress, Congress Chairman, Dr. Paul M. Weigl, Keynote Speakers, Dr Egon Euwe, Dr. Thomas Hanser, Prof. Dr. Shahram Ghanaati and other invited speakers will lecture on established concepts, current trends and emerging techniques in Dental Implantology.
The Congress will be held in the renowned hotel Le Mount Stephen Club, located in the heart of downtown Montreal, within walking distance from fabulous shopping and gastronomic dining experiences. Dr. Paul Martin Weigl
Congress Chairman and Keynote Speaker
Dr. Paul Weigl completed his Dental Medicine studies at Ludwig-Maximilian-University Munich, Germany. In 1991, he became Assistant Medical Director at the Department of Prosthetics, Goethe University, where he led the research development for implant-borne prosthetic therapy concepts. He became a Prosthetics Specialist in 2002 and was appointed Quality Assurance Manager and Associate Professor.
In 2012, he became the Head of the Department of Postgraduate Education, Master of Oral Implantology at Goethe University.
He is also the Head of Department of Medical Technology Research, Faculty of Medicine at Goethe University.
Dr. Egon Euwe
Keynote Speaker
Dr.Egon Euwe obtained his degree in 1982 at the University of Utrecht (Holland). Since 1986 his main interests in the dental field have been periodontics and oral implantology. He followed post-graduate courses under Dr. Sascha Jovanovic at UCLA. He became a member of the UCLA European Study Club. He is a frequent international lecturer and co-author of several scientific publications. Dr Euwe was involved in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Milan at the San Paolo Hospital, where he researched the resorption of newly formed bone. He worked at the Department of Periodontology with Prof. Massimo Simion at Milan University. He is an active member of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO), the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED) and the Italian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (IAED). He is a Faculty member of the Global Institute for Dental Education (gIDE).
Dr. Thomas Hanser
Dr. Hanser is the Deputy Director of the International Implant Dentistry, Periodontology and Oral Surgery Center at the Private Clinic Schloss Schellenstein, Olsberg, Germany with Prof. Dr. Fouad Khoury. He is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Postgraduate Education, Goethe-University Frankfurt.

Prof. Dr. Shahram Ghanaati
Dr. Shahram Ghanaati has a triple doctorate in medicine, dentistry, and science (MD, DMD, PhD) from Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz and Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt. Germany. He has a degree of Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is leading the Head and Neck Oncology section at the Goethe University Cancer Center. He is an Associate Professor and is the Chief Senior Physician and Deputy Director at the Clinic of Oral, Cranio-Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University,.
He has published over 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has performed research and accompanied the development of over 10 biomaterials from the bench to the clinic, and developped a biomaterial-based technique for extra-oral skin regeneration.
Dr. Ghanaati is a spokesperson of the German chapter of the Young Scientist Forum of the European Society for Biomaterials, and he has received the a research award from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry in recognition of his essential contribution to te research in dental implantology.
Dr. Sallpachuda Chaicharoen
Dr.Sallpachuda Chaicharoen obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgeon degree in 2010 at Thammasat University, Thailand. She was awarded a Master of Science in Implantology from Goëthe University in Frankfurt, Germany.

Dr. Michael Gillis
Michael was born and raised in North Sydney, Nova Scotia. He completed his undergraduate dental studies at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1994. In 2015, he earned an MSc in Implant Dentistry from Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. Michael is an Associate Fellow and Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology, a Fellow and Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is a clinical tutor in the MSc in Implantology program at Goethe University in Frankfurt and a guest lecturer at the Dalhousie University Dental School. He sits on the credentialing committee of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He has lectured on digital workflows in implant dentistry in Canada, the USA, and Europe. He maintains a practice limited to implant dentistry in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Dr. Alain Gagnon
Dr. Gagnon obtained his doctorate in Dental Medicine in 1992 from the University of Montreal, followed by a multidisciplinary residence in a hospital centre. Very early on, he developed a passion for leading edge technologies in dentistry: lasers, dental implants, gum treatments and cosmetic dentistry.
His devotion to offering global and optimal treatments to patients led him to obtain a fellowship in implantology from the International College of Oral Implantology (ICOI) and to follow additional training in Canada, the USA and Europe (Misch Institut, Pikos Institute, gIDE Master Clinician program in Implant Dentistry, Ricardo Kern advance soft tissue program, to name a few).
As a full-time GP, Dr Gagnon focuses his work on surgery, implants, soft tissue graft and prosthodontics.
Dr. Duc Vo
Dr. Le Hong Duc Vo graduated from the University of Montreal in 2001. He worked in the Montreal area before moving to Ottawa in 2005.
Dr. Vo has an insatiable passion for dentistry, especially surgical techniques. He has challenged himself to learn intensive, technique specific procedures to augment bone horizontally and vertically.
Dr Vo continues to travel frequently to study under the leaders in dentistry. In 2015, Dr. Vo is completing the 2 year Master’s degree of Oral Implantology from the esteemed Frankfurt University. He is starting to incorporate guided surgery, planning challenging cases from a prosthetic end, so that the treatment will have reduced complications and reduced chair time for the patient.
Dr. Paul Mozer
Dr. Paul Mozer graduated from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, receiving academic distinction and clinical commendations. He researched oral cancer at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and completed a New York Medical College residency. Dr. Mozer has a Master of Science Degree in Oral Implantology from the University of Frankfurt Goethe Dental School, where he is now on faculty lecturing on guided implant surgery and serves as a Clinical Supervisor and Advisor to Master Thesis candidates. He is also on the faculty of the AAID Maxicourse in Boston. Dr. Mozer has conducted clinical research in 3D static and robotic guided implant surgery and is a Diplomate and Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Mozer is a Key Opinion Leader and Consultant for Adin Implants, 3Sixty and Atomica.ai in implantology, robotics and guided implant surgery. He is the principal clinician of a multi-specialty private practice focusing on guided implant surgery and the incorporation of digital technology to enhance treatment efficiency and clinical outcomes.
Dr. Vinh Giap Nguyen
Dr Vinh Giap Nguyen obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgeon degree at McGill University, Montreal in 1987. In 2014, he was awarded a Masters of Science degree in Implantology from Goëthe University in Frankfurt, Germany.
