A hands-on Workshop on Fresh Human Cadavers
Course description
This unique 2-day lecture and hands-on workshop on fresh cadavers will focus on sinus floor elevation procedures and Immediate implant placement techniques in the aesthetic zone with emphasis on the Periosteal Inhibition Technique.
Participants will understand the indications, guidelines, surgical protocols and an over view of head and neck anatomy pertinent to each procedure.
Course outline
Day 1
- Surgical anatomy encountered in sinus grafting
- Pre & post surgical considerations
- Radiographic interpretation
- Lateral and crestal sinus lift techniques using Piezosurgery and crestal approach sinus kits
- Comparison of different types of grafting materials for the sinus lift
- Recognition, management and treatment of early and late postoperative complications
- GBR procedures accompanying the sinus lift procedures
- Cadaver Surgery
Day 2
- The surgical techniques and anatomical considerations for immediate implant placement in the aesthetic zone
- Current methods of preserving the buccal bone including intra socket grafting, the Socket shield technique and The Periosteal Inhibition technique
- Rationale, bio-mechanical principles and clinical guidelines for optimal aesthetic outcomes
- Fabrication of immediate provisional prostheses
- Cadaver Surgery
A ratio of two participants per cadaver head maximizes the training experience.
Dr Vinh Giap Nguyen obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgeon degree at McGill University, Montreal in 1987. In 2014, he was awarded a Masters of Science degree in Implantology from Goëthe University in Frankfurt, Germany.
He was an invited speaker at the International Scientific Symposium ‘Innovation Jumps in Oral Implantology’ in 2015, Frankfurt am Main, Germany on the subject of Ridge Splitting for Expansion, in 2017 on The Clinical protocol on the Socket shield Technique, and in 2019 on The Periosteal Inhibition: A Novel Concept for Socket Preservation and its Application in Immediate Implant Therapy – Rationale and Preliminary Treatment Results
He is the inventor of the Periosteal Inhibition Technique, which may potentially have many applications in Ridge Preservation and Immediate Implant Placement. He focuses his practice in Implantology.
