The Montreal Society of Implantology, in association with J. W. Goethe University, Oral Implantology Master Program, cordially invites you to its First North American MOI Congress. This event-filled congress, the first in North America, will be held in Montreal, Quebec on December 6 and 7, 2019. The MOI Team of educators and researchers in the field of dental implantology along with its outstanding administrative members have joined forces with North American & International MOI Alumni, guest speakers and Event sponsors to bring about this exciting two-day scientific event.
During the two days of the congress, Congress Chairman, Dr. Paul M. Weigl, keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Frank Schwarz, and other invited speakers will lecture on established concepts, current trends and emerging techniques in Dental Implantology. In addition, the latest research results from Alumni’s Master Theses will be presented. On the second day, a hands-on session on a ridge preservation technique will be given for a limited number of registered participants.
The Congress will be held in the renowned Ritz Carlton Hotel, located in the heart of downtown Montreal, within walking distance from fabulous shopping and gastronomic dining experiences. Reduced room rates have been reserved for the event. Reserve now to take advantage of this limited time offer.

Dr. Paul Weigl completed his Dental Medicine studies at Ludwig-Maximilian-University Munich, Germany. In 1991, he became Assistant Medical Director at the Department of Prosthetics, Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany, where he was Main Lead in the research development for implant borne prosthetic therapy concepts. He became a Prosthetics Specialist in 2002, was appointed Quality Assurance Manager in 2008 and Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Postgraduate Education in 2012 at Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany

Dennis Flanagan
DDS, MSc Impl.
Dr. Dennis Flanagan is a diplomate of the American Board of General Dentistry, International Congress of Oral Implantologists and American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry. He is an Attending Dentist for the US Olympic Committee and the Windham Community Memorial Hospital, where he was Chief of Dentistry for more than 8 years. Dr. Flanagan has published over 110 articles in dentistry and holds six US patents on medical and dental devices. He has made many presentations at national and international dental conferences. Dr. Flanagan is an Honored Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Fellow of the Academy of Osseointegration and American Board of Forensic Dentistry. He is on the editorial board/reviewer of several dental journals. He is a former editorial consultant to the Academy of Osseointegration, and former editor for Oakstone Medical publishing. He is an examining board member of the American Board of General Dentistry and American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry. He is a senior associate editor for the Journal of Oral Implantology. He has been a paid consultant to Proctor and Gamble, Blue Cross, and National Medical Insurance Consultants. He is a Georgetown University School of Dentistry (DDS) graduate, has studied oral implantology at Harvard University Dental School (certificate) and at the Goethe Medical University, Frankfurt Germany (MSc). He is an associate professor in dental medicine at Lugano University of Switzerland Malta.

Omid Kiarash
DMD, MSD, Dip. Perio., ABP. FRCD
Dr. Omid Kiarash is a Periodontist and an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Dentistry, McGill University. He is Division Director of Periodontics and oversees all aspects of the DMD II, III and IV periodontics curriculum. Dr. Kiarash is also involved in the teaching of the undergraduate Implantology program. He is the director of multiple courses as well as the Periodontal Clerkship Program. Dr. Kiarash also serves on the Promotions, Undergraduate Curriculum, Purchasing as well as the Clinical Education Committees in the Faculty of Dentistry.
His main interests are bone regeneration, 3D tissue manufacturing and biomedical engineering.
Dr. Kiarash obtained his DMD degree from McGill University. He received his Post-graduate specialty training in Periodontics at Case Western Reserve University. During his training he pursued his clinical research at the same University in collaboration with the University Hospital as well as Cleveland Clinic, where he obtained his MSc in Dentistry.
Dr. Kiarash is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is the Vice-Chairman of the Predoctoral Directors Organization of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP). He is also a member of the Education Committee of the AAP. Dr. Kiarash is on the Executive Committee of the Association of Periodontists of Quebec (APQ). He is also the Treasurer of the APQ. He serves on the task force for the Federation of Dental Specialists of Quebec. Dr. Kiarash is a member of many national and international organizations. He is also a Study Club Director for the International Team for Implantology.

Dr. Marc Couture obtained his DMD degree from Laval University in 1990. He then went on to serve as a dentist in the Canadian Armed Forces until 1994. In 2014, he graduated from J.W. Goethe University, Frankfurt Aim Main with a Master of Science Degree in Oral Implantology. He is a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Couture practices general dentistry in a private setting in Quebec City.

From 1999 until 2002, Prof. Dr. Frank Schwarz worked as Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontology at the University Homburg as well as in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Ludwig Maximilians University, München. In 2002 he moved to the Department of Oral Surgery at Heinrich Heine University, where he became Associate Professor in 2006 and extraordinary Professor in 2010.
Prof. Dr. Frank Schwarz has a special degree in Oral Surgery and Oral Implantology. In 2013 he became Honorary Professor at the Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia (School of Dentistry and Oral Health) and in 2015, he was appointed as Full Professor in Oral Medicine and Peri-implant Infections in the Department of Oral Surgery at the Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf, Germany.
Since February 2018, he is Professor and Head of the Department of Oral Surgery and Implantology at the Centre for Dentistry and Oral Medicine (Carolinum), Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany.
He serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology (Ranking: 2014: 2/88 – Dentistry Oral Surgery & Medicine) and Editorial Board Member for Clinical Oral Implants Research (Ranking: 2014: 3/88 – Dentistry Oral Surgery & Medicine).
He is the Past President of the German Association of Oral Implantology (DGI), a Board Member of the Osteology Foundation and was awarded the André Schröder Research Prize in 2007, the Miller Research Prize in 2012 and the Jan Lindhe Award in 2017.

Yvan Poitras

Dr. Yvan Poitras, DMD, graduated from Université Laval, Canada in 1984. He is the founder and president of the Canadian Implant Institute, a continuing education centered exclusive to oral implantology. Very engaged in this field, he shares his time between his exclusive private implant practice, teaching, giving conferences internationally, writing numerous papers as well as research & development with patented innovations to his name such as the Poitras Surgical Template, the Poitras Stitch and the CAD-CAM Subperiosteal ImplantTM. Dr. Poitras colaborates with the research group in biomechanics/biomaterials at Polytechnique Montréal, and is the co-director of the Franco-Canadian implantology university degree at Université d’Évry-Val-d’Essonne, France. He is an expert for Ordre des Dentistes du Québec Professional Liability Insurance Fund, President of CSOI, Ambassador of ICOI, contributor to the journal Implant Dentistry and contributing consultant for Oral Health Magazine.

Prof. Dr. Jonas Lorenz is a Specialist in Oral Surgery and Senior Physician and Senior Manager of Oral Implantology at the Clinic for Oral-Maxillofacial and Facial Plastic Surgery, University Clinic Frankfurt, Germany (Director: Prof. Dr. Dr. Sader). After two years of general dental training, Dr. Lorenz underwent a 3-year full-time program as an oral surgeon, completed in 2016.
Beside his everyday clinical routine as Senior Physician at the University Clinic Frankfurt, Dr. Lorenz conducts scientific research on dental implantology and biomaterial research in the FORM-Lab (Frankfurt Oro-Facial Regenerative Medicine; head: Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. Shahram Ghanaati). His focus is the analysis of tissue reaction to different biomaterials, the increase in their regenerative capacity and new developments in implant dentistry, such as ceramic implants.
In 2018, Dr. Lorenz finished his habilitation and received the venia legendi and a Professorship.

Aslan Mammadov

Dr. Aslan Mammadov received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Azerbaijan Medical University in 2001 and joined the residency program at the department of Operative Dentistry and Periodontology, University Erlangen-Nurenberg, Germany.
After enrolling in the Oral Implantology curriculum at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, he went on to complete a postgraduate program in Periodontology at the Institute of Periodontology and Implantology in Munich, Germany.
In 2013, he was awarded a Master Degree in Oral Implantology at the J.W. Goethe University in Frankfurt.
Between 2013 and 2015, he continued his postgraduate education and research in the Department of Periodontology at the Medical University of Vienna and obtained a Certification as a Specialist in Periodontics from the Austrian Society of Periodontology.
Since 2007 he has worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at Azerbaijan Medical University. He is the vice-president of the Azerbaijan Periodontology Society and a member of the Austrian Society of Periodontology, the American Academy of Periodontology, and the German Association of Dental Implantology.
